Lady Tigers Tennis Ready for Tough Match Against Purdue

BATON ROUGE — The Lady Tigers will put their perfect record on the line Sunday when they host Purdue in what may be their toughest test so far this season.

The last time the two teams met Purdue beat LSU, 5-2. The Lady Boilermakers are 2-0 this season.

LSU (4-0) has fared well thus far in dual match play, beating four in-state teams and losing only one singles match in all of them.

“Purdue is very good,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. “They beat us last year. We have to be prepared to play.”

The Lady Tigers have not lost a doubles match yet. Senior Rocio Fantilli and junior Amanda Mang have played all four matches at No. 1 doubles and lost just seven games thus far.

“I’ve seen a lot of positive things with this team,” Minnis said. “But against Purdue we have to play with consistent intensity.”

The match begins Sunday at noon.
