BATON ROUGE — LSU defender Tara Mitnick was named to the Soccerbuzz All-Central Region Third Team, the magazine announced on Friday.
Mitnick, a native of Lillburn, Ga., was a member of the All-Central Regiona Freshman team a year ago. The sophomore started 17 games during the 2003 season and recorded her first career goal in the Tigers’ 9-0 season-ending shutout of Southern University.
“I am very happy for Tara to win this award because it says that she is one of the best players in the entire region and that is a great honor for her and a reflection on our whole team,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos.
Mitnick led LSU to a 10-9-1 mark in 2003, the Tigers’ second-consecutive winning season.
