BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team climbed two spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released Tuesday. Thee Tigers were ranked 17th this week, up from 19th in the preseason poll.
They open their dual match season Saturday when they host Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 p.m. and Southern at 5 p.m.
New singles and doubles rankings will be released Feb. 22. Currently LSU has one singles player and two doubles teams in those rankings. Freshman Ken Skupski is the 33rd-ranked singles player and is on the 20th-ranked doubles team with Bryan Fisher.
Fisher is also ranked 35th in doubles with Jason Hazley. The pair recently ousted the No. 5 team in the nation, Bo Hodge and John Isner of Geogia, in the SEC Indoor Championship tournament. They reached the semifinals before losing to No. 25 Catalin Gard and Paul Ciorascu of Ole Miss.
