BATON ROUGE — Seimone Augustus of the LSU Lady Tigers and Andrew Wisniewski of the Centenary Gents earned the Louisiana Sports Writers Women’s and Men’s Players of the Week Honors for this past week, it was announced Wednesday.
Augustus, a sophomore guard from Baton Rouge, helped the Lady Tigers to victories over Florida and Kentucky during the week. She scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the win over Florida at home and then poured in a game-high 20 and added nine boards at Kentucky.
Wisniewski, a senior guard from Staten Island, N.Y., averaged 27.0 points in the Gents’ three games during the week, including 26 points in a loss to Oral Roberts, 28 points in a win over Oakland and 27 point in the victory over Houston. In the victory over Houston, he connected on 13 of 14 from the free throw line, including eight straight in the final five minute of the game to seal the 63-57 road win.
Both Augustus and Wisniewski have received the honor earlier this season.
