BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 14th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team but their 12-game win streak on the line when they host Florida in a Southeastern Conference battle on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Lady Tigers (13-2, 1-0 SEC) put two streaks on the line on Thursday night when the Gators (11-4, 1-1 SEC) come to town. Not only has LSU not loss a game since Penn State back in November, but the Lady Tigers have not lost at home since at set back to Tennessee last February, 10 games ago.
Florida also rides a streak into the game, but one they would love to snap. The Gators have dropped 10 straight SEC games on the road entering Thursday night’s games.
Both teams are coming off victories. LSU is fresh off a 70-59 win at home over No. 21 Auburn on Sunday, while Florida defeated Vanderbilt 67-61.
Seimone Augustus and Doneeka Hodges lead LSU into the game. Augustus, a sophomore from Baton Rouge, is averaging 16.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per and has scored in double figures in six straight games, while Hodges, a senior from New Orleans, is averaging 15.0 points per game, has scored in double figures in eight straight games.
Vanessa Hayden, a senior center, leads Florida into the game. The preseason all-SEC performer is averaging 20.2 points and 11.7 rebounds per contest.
This will be the 24th meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the series 15-8 and has won five of the last six meetings, including two straight. The Lady Tigers also lead the series 7-3 in games played in Baton Rouge.
Following the game, LSU will hit the road for the first of three straight away from home when they travel to Lexington to play Kentucky on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST.
