ANN ARBOR Mich. — The Lady Tigers won five out of six singles matches Saturday against Eastern Michigan in their second day of competition in the Michigan Invitational. They were swept in doubles by host team Michigan.
Jessica Ferguson moved from No. 4 singles on Friday to No. 1 on Saturday, where she won the tiebreaker over EMU’s Victoria Domina, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(1). Marina Chiarelli, Rocio Fantilli, Camila Caliari and Lauren Seaman also won their singles matches.
In doubles, Ferguson and Chiarelli lost to nationally ranked DaCosta and Rutherford of Michigan.
Tomorrow is the last day of the tournament. LSU will finish with its final hidden dual matches against Georgia Tech in singles and EMU in doubles. The Lady Tigers begin regular dual matches in two weeks.
