BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Seimone Augustus and Centenary’s Andrew Wisnieski have been named Louisiana Players of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, it was announced on Wednesday.
Augustus, a 6-1 sophomore guard for the Lady Tigers, earned the Women’s POW for her performance in LSU’s two victories during the week. The Baton Rouge native averaged 20.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in the wins at Tulane and Arizona and poured in 18 points in the win at Tulane last Tuesday and then hit for a team-high 22 points in the victory over No. 25 Arizona on Sunday. She was also named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for her efforts.
Wisniewski, a senior guard for the Gents, averaged 22.0 points per game in the team’s split of its games during the week. The Staten Island, N.Y., native scored 27 points in a loss to Stephen F. Austin and then hit for 17 in the Mid-Con conference opening win against Chicago State on Saturday. He also collected eight rebounds and five assists in the win against CSU.
