BATON ROUGE — Several of LSU’s student-athletes, the LSU cheerleaders and Mike the Tiger will be on hand to make Christmas brighter for several underprivileged children in the Baton Rouge area as they deliver toys to the “Families First” office of Baton Rouge on Wednesday evening.
The Toy Drive is an annual event sponsored by the Shaquille O’Neal/CHAMPS Life Skills Center. Various athletic teams and departments sponsor children through Families First and raise money and gift donations to collect toys throughout the month of December. Those toys are then delivered to the children in time for Christmas.
The student-athletes will be at the Families First office of Baton Rouge at approximately 5:45 p.m. to distribute the toys. The Families First program provides an array of services to homeless families including transitional housing and supporting services of case management, child care, financial counseling, after school tutoring, parenting skill training, referral for permanent housing and employment referral.
