ATLANTA — LSU’s 17th-ranked Lady Tigers return to the court after the holiday break to face Florida State in the Russell Athletic Shootout at Philips Arena at 11:15 a.m. CST on Saturday.
The game time was switched due to television. The match-up can be seen live on SEC-TV (Fox Sports Net and Sunshine Network, cable Ch. 38 in the Baton Rouge area).
LSU (9-2) rides an eight game winning streak into the game, while Florida State (6-3) is coming off a victory over Fairleigh Dickenson in their final game before the break. The Lady Tigers defeated Temple 68-52 on Dec. 22 in Baton Rouge to cap at seven-game home stand.
Seimone Augustus leads LSU into the game. The sophomore guard from Baton Rouge is averaging 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while senior guard Doneeka Hodges is next on the club with 13.7 points and senior point guard Temeka Johnson is scoring 13.2 points and dishing out 7.5 assists per outing.
Senior forward Tasheika Allen leads the Lady Seminoles into the game. She is averaging 17.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per outing.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools. The series is ties at two victories each with Florida State winning the last meeting, 79-59 on Dec. 5, 1992 in Tallahassee. This will be the first time the teams have met on a neutral court.
Georgia and Georgia Tech will face off at 2:30 p.m. CST in the other game of the Russell Athletic Shootout in the arena.
After Saturday LSU will visit another NBA arena on Tuesday when the Lady Tigers face Tulane in New Orleans Arena at 7 p.m. in the final non-conference road game of the season.
