TO: Fans, Friends, and Supporters of LSU Athletics
FROM: Skip Bertman, LSU Athletics Director
This Week:
As we wind down the calendar year, let me take this opportunity to wish all of you a great holiday season. Thank you for your support of the Tigers during 2003, and we hope even better things are in store for all of us in 2004, starting with the Nokia Sugar Bowl on January 4.
Our preparations continue for bowl week. I know a lot of you will be joining the Tigers in New Orleans, and I hope you will make plans to attend Nick Saban’s annual bowl radio and television shows. This year the shows will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel at 500 Canal Street on Friday, January 2. The television show begins at 6 p.m. and the radio show will start at 7 p.m. We’ll have bowl posters available and refreshments for purchase so don’t miss this exciting event.
For those of you who cannot attend, you can watch Inside LSU Football with Nick Saban live on television statewide, and you can hear Tiger Sportsline with Nick Saban live on the LSU Sports Radio Network. Check your local listings for stations.
In my last e-mail I asked for feedback on whether or not we should hold a live view-in of the Nokia Sugar Bowl in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. I thank all of you who responded.
Although some of you expressed enthusiasm for this event, many who wrote said they were going to go to New Orleans, whether or not they had tickets to the game, or they have scheduled game watching parties at home with friends. Also, after meeting with our various law enforcement agencies, it became apparent that staffing this event would be a problem on this date. For these reasons, we have decided not to hold the view-in at the Assembly Center on January 4.
Unfortunately, due to a prior commitment to other events, we have been informed by the Sugar Bowl that the New Orleans Arena is also not available for a view-in.
We do hope fans will come out to the PMAC to see the Lady Tiger basketball team in action at noon on January 4 against Arizona. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the women’s basketball game and make it home to see the football game.
But eight lucky people won’t be going home after the Lady Tiger basketball game. Head coach Sue Gunter and her staff have donated their Sugar Bowl tickets to be given away during the LSU-Arizona game. The winners will ride to the Superdome in a recreational vehicle donated by Road Show Coach and RV Center of New Orleans. Make sure you sign your entry form as you enter the arena for a chance to win tickets and a ride to the Nokia Sugar Bowl that same night.
By now, those of you with tickets to the Sugar Bowl should have received them through UPS. A signature was required of all deliveries and, after three attempts, any unclaimed tickets have been returned to the LSU Ticket Office.
Any returned tickets may be picked up by the season ticket holder of record at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office Monday, December 29, through Wednesday, December 31, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. After that, tickets will be available at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans at the Gate A, ground level ticket windows from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, January 2 and Saturday, January 3, and from 8 a.m. until kickoff on Sunday, January 4.
We always want to hear from you, so write to us about how we can make Tiger Athletics better. Although we can’t guarantee a response to every letter we receive, all letters will be read. Write to us at LSUvision@etigers.net.
