BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 16th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team looks to keep its winning streak alive on Saturday when Southeastern Louisiana visits the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 11:30 a.m.
The Lady Tigers (7-2) have won six straight games and are coming victories in the www.WOMENSCOLLEGEHOOPS.com Classic on Wednesday and Thursday over Kent State and Richmond in the Maravich Center.
Seimone Augustus leads LSU into the game, averaging 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest, while Temeka Johnson is scoring 12.9 points, dishing out 7.0 assists and grabbing 6.2 rebounds per outing. Doneeka Hodges is also averaging in double digits with 12.7 points per game.
Southeastern Louisiana (3-2) enters the game coming off a victory over Troy State at home on Thursday night. The Lady Lions are led by Nakeya Downing with 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
This will be the 35th meeting between the in-state foes. LSU leads the series 26-8, including 17 straight victories. The Lady Tigers have not dropped a game in the series since an 80-67 SLU win on Feb. 24, 1981. LSU also leads 12-3 in games played in Baton Rouge, including nine straight wins.
Following the game, LSU will host Temple on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the final home game of the current home stand. Monday’s game will feature a free 8×10 color print of Augustus and Johnson in their USA Basketball uniform to the first 1,500 fans in attendance and the players will be available following the game to autograph the print. The duo will also be honored prior to the game for their accomplishments on Team USA this past summer.
