BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 18th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team continues its seven-game home stand on Monday when they host Sam Houston State at 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Lady Tigers (4-2) come in riding a three-game winning streak that includes an 86-48 victory over Louisiana-Monroe in the Maravich Center on Saturday night. Scholanda Hoston led a balanced LSU attack that saw every play score at least two points. Hoston posted a career-high 23 points in 24 minutes, while Seimone Augustus added 16 points and eight rebounds, Doneeka Hodges added 12 points and Temeka Johnson had nine points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Sam Houston State (0-6) enters the game not having won a game and they have also not played at home yet this season. Monday’s game will mark the final game of their seven-game road swing to begin the season. The Bearkats are coming off a 74-51 loss at Southern Miss on Saturday night.
This will be the third meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the series 2-0, including a 92-52 victory on Nov. 19, 2000 in the last meeting in Baton Rouge.
Following Monday’s game LSU will host its annual www.WOMENSCOLLEGEHOOPS.com Classic on Wednesday and Thursday in the Maravich Center. The tournament gets underway at 5 p.m. Wednesday with Arkansas State and Richmond, while the Lady Tigers and Kent State will play at approximately 7 p.m. The consolation game is Thursday at 5 p.m. and the championship game is a 7 p.m.
