BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 18th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team returns to the court after a 10 day layoff on Saturday when they host Louisiana-Monroe at 7 p.m. CST in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
LSU (3-2) has not played since a 78-68 victory over No. 22 Rutgers on Dec. 2 because of final exams. Doneeka Hodges led the Lady Tigers in that victory with 23 points, while Seimone Augustus added 19 points and Tillie Willis hit for 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
ULM (2-3) has not played since a 92-63 victory over Centenary on Dec. 4 in Monroe that snapped a three-game losing skid. The Lady Indians are led by forward Nina Randle with 13.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game this season.
Augustus, a 6-1 sophomore guard, leads the Lady Tigers. She is averaging 18.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Doneeka Hodges is scoring 12.6 points per outing and Temeka Johnson is posting 11.4 points and 6.0 assists per contest.
This will be the 14th meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the series 10-3, including two straight victories. The Ladies Tigers lead the series 6-1 in games played in Baton Rouge and have won five straight games played in the Maravich Center. The teams have not met since a 78-67 LSU victory on Dec. 15, 1998 in Baton Rouge.
Following the game, LSU hosts Sam Houston State in the second of a six-game home strand on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Maravich Center.
