BATON ROUGE — Ronnie Haliburton, Manager of Facility Maintenance on the LSU campus and a former member of the LSU football team, has been named Director of Athletic Facilities and Grounds at LSU, it was announced Monday.
“We are pleased to add Ronnie’s expertise to our staff,” said LSU athletics director Skip Bertman. “His attention to detail and his familiarity with our program, as well as the experience he has gained in the field of facility maintenance on this campus, will be a great asset to Tiger Athletics.”
Haliburton will supervise the entire athletics facilities and grounds staff and will be responsible for managing its annual operating budget of over $3 million. He will oversee all managers and other personnel responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, planning and implementation of construction and renovation projects for the athletics department and its buildings.
Haliburton comes to the athletics department from LSU’s facility maintenance department where he has served as manager since 1998. He was responsible for the overall management for custodial, special events crews, stock room and equipment repair.
Haliburton played for the LSU football team from 1986-89, and was a member of two Southeastern Conference championship teams. He later played for the Denver Broncos of the NFL for three years.
He first joined LSU in an administrative capacity in 1994 as resident assistant of Broussard Hall, then the school’s athletic dormitory, before moving to the weight room as a student assistant strength coach for LSU’s student-athletes.
He became a resident manager in 1996 before being named coordinator of residence life later that year. In 1998 he became Manager of Facility Maintenance at LSU.
