BATON ROUGE — Tiffany Tucker and Staten Spencer signed letters of intent to play women’s tennis at LSU last week. They are the Lady Tigers’ first two signees this year.
“Both of these girls are extremely athletic,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “I’m really excited about this class.”
Tucker, who graduates this spring from the John Newcombe Tennis Academy in Austin, Texas, is a Fort Worth native. She is ranked 110th in the nation.
Tucker chose LSU over TCU, Alabama and Purdue.
Spencer is one of the top three players in Tennessee and one of the top 20 in the South, according to Minnis.
“She has so much ability and she’s a good kid,” Minnis said.
Spencer is a three-sport star at St. Agnes High School in Memphis, Tenn. She was named All-Metro in soccer and All-District in basketball, along with her tennis accolades.
She received offers from Auburn and Vanderbilt.
