BATON ROUGE, La. — Emily Ellis has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the 2005 LSU Gymnastics team it was announced Monday by head coach D-D Breaux.
Ellis, a level 10 gymnast from Fayette, Ala., currently trains at Bama Bounders in Tuscaloosa. She finished seventh on the bars at the 2002 Junior Olympic national championships and was second in the all-around and first on the bars at the regional championships that same year.
“Emily was a very highly recruited athlete and we are excited to have signed her,” said Breaux. “She is a very fundamentally sound gymnast who we feel has had great training and good coaching. We expect her to compete well for us and add depth in the all-around.”
Ellis will graduate from Fayette County High School in the Spring, where she currently maintains a 3.15 GPA.
Ellis is the daughter of Bill and Karen Ellis. She choose LSU over Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
