BATON ROUGE — LSU took advantage of weekend losses by Florida State, Miami and Virginia Tech as the idle Tigers moved up three spots to No. 4 in the latest edition of the Bowl Championship Standings, which were released by the National Football Foundation on Monday.
The Tigers, who are ranked No. 3 in both the Associated Press poll and the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, are have a 13.17 BCS rating and are behind Oklahoma (1.68) Southern California (6.27) and Ohio State (7.73) in the BCS Standings.
Texas (17.05) is ranked No. 5 in the BCS Standings, followed by TCU (17.65), Tennessee (18.32), Michigan (19.29), Georgia (20.27), and Washington State (20.49).
Since opening up at No. 12 in the first BCS poll on Oct. 20, the Tigers were No. 7 on Oct. 27 and Nov. 2 before moving up to No. 4 in this week’s standings.
LSU’s No. 4 BCS ranking is its highest ever in the computer generated poll.
