BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 10th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team hosts the Latvian Select Team at 7 p.m. Monday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in the final exhibition game before the regular season begins.
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 113-46 victory over NWBL Elite on Wednesday and were led by sophomore Seimone Augustus’ 21 points and seven rebounds, while senior Temeka Johnson and freshman Marian Whitfield added 18 points. LSU shot 64.3 percent from the floor in the victory and used solid defense. The Lady Tigers held NWBL to 30.5 percent shooting and forced 39 turnovers.
The Latvian team, made up of players ranging in age from 15 to 31, has dropped the first four games of their United States college tour. They lost the opener to Santa Barbara 87-71 last Monday, fell to Arizona 87-52 on Tuesday, lost to Northern Arizona 72-64 on Wednesday, were defeated by Arizona State on Thursday 92-41 and play Sunday night at St. Mary’s (Calif.) before traveling to Baton Rouge.
Following the final exhibition game, LSU begins the regular season by traveling to Eugene, Ore., to face Villanova in the opening game of the Women’s Sports Foundation Tip-off Classic hosted by the University of Oregon on Saturday at 6 p.m. CST.
