BATON ROUGE — Two days after Temeka Johnson was named a “Point of Impact,” fellow teammate Seimone Augustus has been named one of the top five “Wing Commanders” by ESPN.com.
Augustus, a sophomore guard from Baton Rouge, La., averaged 14.8 points on 54.9% shooting last year for the 10th-ranked Lady Tigers. Joining Augustus on the list was, in alphabetical order, Houston’s Chandi Jones, Stanford’s Nicole Powell, Mississippi State’s Tan White, and Purdue’s Shereka Wright.
ESPN analyst Nancy Lieberman said of Augustus: “Arguably the best player in the SEC. Tremendous competitor. Very mentally tough.”
