Tigers Remained Focused During Bye Week

BATON ROUGE — LSU went back to work in full pads on Wednesday as the fourth-ranked Tigers had a two-hour workout here at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility.

The Tigers head into their second bye week of the season with an 8-1 overall mark and a 4-1 mark in Southeastern Conference action. LSU returns to action on Nov. 15 when they travel to face Alabama in Tuscaloosa in a game televised nationally at 6:45 p.m. by ESPN. The Tigers are coming off a 49-10 win over Louisiana Tech last Saturday.

LSU will practice again on Thursday followed by a workout on Friday before having Saturday and Sunday off. LSU will start its preparation for the Alabama game next Monday.

“We had a good practice today and had a good start yesterday,” LSU coach Nick Saban said after Wednesday’s workout. “I was disappointed with the way that we played in the second half of the last game (Louisiana Tech) after we looked at the film. We made a lot of mental errors and stopped ourselves. We will get those things corrected, but I think it’s an opportunity for the players to see that they were not focused to finish the game and when you do that you’re not going to play well, no matter who you’re playing.”

Saban said the Tigers also touched on some of the things that they will see from its opponents over the final three games, which includes road games against Alabama and Ole Miss before finishing out the regular season at home against Arkansas.

“I have looked at all three teams that we have to play down the stretch just so we can work on different things that we are going to see,” Saban said. We are working on those things especially today and tomorrow. All three teams that we play are good football teams so we have a lot of work to do.”
