Eddie Nunez Hired as Director of Game/Event Management

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletic Department announced on Wednesday that Eddie Nunez has been named the new Director of Game and Event Management and will also serve as Director of New Projects for the Department.

Nunez takes over for long-time game management director and former LSU swimming and diving coach Ted Stickles, who retired recently after almost 30 years on the LSU campus.

Nunez comes to LSU after two years as the Director of Game and Event Management at Vanderbilt University in Nashville where be was responsible for overseeing game management for all sports, particularly football and men’s basketball as well as all post season games and tournaments. He was involved with the 2002 Women’s NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds and the Assistant Tournament Director for the 2003 Men’s NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds held at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville.

Prior to that, Nunez served as men’s basketball administrative assistant at Marquette University for one years and two years as men’s basketball graduate assistant and head equipment manager for Coach Billy Donovan at the University of Florida. He also played two seasons on the Florida basketball team and was a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 1997 and 1998.

The 27-year-old Nunez, a native of Miami, Fla., received his associate degree in arts, architecture from Miami-Dade Community College in Miami in 1995, his bachelors in Sports Management from the University of Florida in 1998 and his masters in sports administration from Florida in 2000.
