BATON ROUGE — LSU forward Ronald Dupree was the 11th player chosen in Tuesday’s 18th annual Continental Basketball Association college draft, conducted live via teleconference from the CBA office in Boise, Idaho.
In all, 43 players were chosen by the seven league teams over six rounds.
Dupree was the second round selection of the Gary (Ind.) Steelheads, who are coached by Duane Ticknor. The Steelheads were 25-23 last year, missing the playoffs by quarter-point differential in which the league gives points for quarters won during a game. The 2003-04 CBA season begins in mid-November.
Dupree, from Biloxi, Miss., earned SEC honors each of his final three seasons at LSU and finished his career in the top 10 at the school in both scoring and rebounding. He averaged 15.8 points a game this past season as LSU finished in a tie for second in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference with a record of 21-11 and 8-8 in the league. LSU advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament and the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
