BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Rocio Fantilli and Lauren Seaman were one of just eleven doubles teams in the country selected for the main draw of the 2003 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships next month in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
“This is a great honor for them to be chosen out of so many teams,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis.
Seaman and Fantilli were ranked 38th by ITA in the preseason poll. Last year, they defeated the No. 1-ranked doubles team in the country, Vanderbilt’s Sarah Riske and Aleke Tsoubanos. They finished the season with an 11-10 record.
Fantilli, Seaman and the rest of the Lady Tigers will begin their fall schedule Sept. 26 at the Rice Invitational in Houston. The All-American Tournament begins with pre-qualifying rounds in October 3. Fantilli and Seaman get to skip that and the qualifying round and go straight to the championship round Oct. 9.
