AUSTIN, Texas — The LSU soccer team will face its biggest challenge yet this season when the Tigers face No. 11 Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

“This is a huge match for our team, playing a team like Texas on their home field in front of a big crowd,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “We are excited to play Texas and are looking forward to the opportunity it presents for our team.”

The Tigers (5-0-1) are coming off of a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Tulane Friday in New Orleans and are playing on the road for just the second time this season. LSU has not lost to a non-conference opponent in more than a year and is 31-4-2 against non-conference opponents under Fotopoulos.

LSU has outscored its opponents 27-2 this season and has shut out four of six teams. Freshman forward Stacy Bishop enters Sunday’s match with nine goals scored, tops on the team and in the Southeastern Conference.

The Tigers and Longhorns are meeting for just the second time, with Texas winning the first contest 4-0 in 2001. Texas is 3-2 and also played a double-overtime game on Friday, falling to North Carolina 1-0.

Live Statistics and a live audio cast will be available on the Longhorns’ Web site, www.texassports.com.

LSU will return to action on Sept. 19, when it faces UL-Lafayette at 7 p.m. in Lafayette and will then meet Southeastern La. on September 21 at 2 p.m. in Hammond.
