BATON ROUGE — Members of the LSU football team along with head football coach Nick Saban presented longtime equipment manager Jeff Boss with a game ball from the Louisiana-Monroe game at Boss’ home on Friday night.
Boss, who has served as LSU’s equipment for 24 years, was diagnosed with brain tumor last January and has been undergoing treatment since then. The Louisiana-Monroe contest was the first LSU game in 24 years that Boss was not on the Tiger sidelines.
The Tigers have dedicated the 2003 football season to Coach Boss and LSU will officially name the football locker room the Jeff Boss Locker Room with a ceremony on Sept. 29.
Boss, a native of Lake Charles, La., came to LSU as equipment manager in 1980 after serving as a teacher and football coach at Morgan City High School. Boss was named National Equipment Manager of the Year in 1990.
