Soccer Team to Sign Autographs, Host Clinic

BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team will make an appearance at Independence Park in Baton Rouge on Thursday evening to sign autographs and will bring the LSU marketing and promotions departments’ new “Fan Van” along for additional fun and entertainment.

The Tigers will be at fields No. 6, 7 and 8 at 6 p.m. on Thursday to meet the youth soccer players of the community.

LSU will also host a Kid’s Clinic on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the LSU Soccer Comlex, which will be a free clinic for kids ages 5-17. The clinic will feature training by the LSU staff, a guest coach, and speaker Danielle Fotopoulos, current WUSA star and wife of Tiger head coach George Fotopoulos

A clinic for coaches and parents will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7 following the Tigers’ game with Loyola (Md.), at 1:30 p.m. The first 50 applicants will receive a free LSU clipboard. Participants will also receive coaching tips from LSU head coach George Fotopoulos and the rest of the Tigers’ coaching staff.

The Tigers will host a tournament for the second-consecutive weekend, as they welcome McNeese State, Birmingham-Southern and Loyola (Md.), to Baton Rouge beginning Friday. McNeese State will face Loyola on Friday at 5 p.m. to open the tournament, and the Tigers will face Birmingham-Southern at 7:30 p.m.

The tournament will wrap up with McNeese State squaring off with Birmingham-Southern at 11 a.m. on Sunday and the Tigers facing Loyola at 1:30 p.m.

The game on Friday is Club Soccer Appreciation Night and club soccer teams can receive tickets for only $1. The first 100 fans will receive a free LSU Soccer antenna topper.
