BATON ROUGE — A track All-American as well as a member of the Tigers’ 1993 national championship baseball team headlined a group of 16 student-athletes that received degrees as a part of LSU’s summer commencement ceremony Thursday.
Ronetta Smith, a four-time All-American who helped the Lady Tigers to the NCAA Indoor national title in 2002, completed her undergraduate degree in marketing. She was one of three track athletes to receive their diplomas Thursday.
Bhrett McCabe, a relief pitcher for LSU from 1992-95, received his doctorate’s degree in psychology. McCabe was a three-time academic All-SEC selection during his playing days and was on the Tigers’ 1993 national championship squad.
Swimmer Neal Satterly also earned a postgraduate degree this summer, receiving his masters degree in environmental studies. Satterly completed his eligibility in 2000 and still holds all-time top-five times in both the 100 and 200-meter backstroke.
Aleshia Perry, one of the three softball players to earn their diploma this summer, graduated with a degree in kinesiology. A 2002 NCAA All-Region selection, Perry played on the Tigers’ 2001 College World Series team, as well as the 2001 and 2002 SEC Championship teams.
Also earning a diploma was former Tiger Harold Boudreaux. Boudreaux, a three-year letterwinner for the Tiger basketball program from 1989-92, completed his degree in general studies. While playing for LSU, Boudreaux was a member of three Tiger teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, as well as the 1991 squad that won the SEC Championship.
