BATON ROUGE — Former LSU defensive standout Fred Booker has signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins, the team announced on Wednesday.
Booker, who spent the spring playing in NFL Europe with the Amsterdam Admirals, was a member of LSU’s Peach Bowl champion team in 2000. As a member of the Admirals, Booker recorded 27 tackles and deflected four passes from his cornerback position.
In four years with the Tigers, Booker finished with 126 tackles, four interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries. He was a Second Team All-Southeastern Conference selection in 2000 after helping the Tigers to an 8-4 overall mark and a 28-14 win over Georgia Tech in the Peach Bowl.
