BATON ROUGE — LSU softball signee Amber Brooks was named a 2003 National Junior College Athletic Association Second-Team All-American, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday.
The Okaloosa-Walton Community College sophomore outfielder hit .400 for the season with 10 doubles, five triples and two home runs. She was also a first-team All-Panhandle Conference selection and named to the All-Florida Community College Athletic Association/Region VIII second team.
A native of Oakland, Calif., Brooks played at Eufala High School in Eufala, Ala., prior to enrolling at Okaloosa-Walton. A two-time all-state selection in high school, she played in both the outfield and at first base in 2002 at Okaloosa-Walton.
She earned second team 2002 All-Florida Community College Athletic Association/Region VIII honors and was named to the All-Panhandle Conference first team as OWCC finished the year ranked 12th nationally.
