BATON ROUGE — LSU hurdler Zamyal Jackson will be unable to participate at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif., June 11-14, after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee announced LSU’s head track and field coach Pat Henry.

Jackson, a junior from Waco, Texas, suffered the injury during the finals of the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships in Columbus, Ohio, this past weekend. She fell following the fourth hurdle and was unable to finish the race.

Jackson, one of the Lady Tigers’ top hurdling prospects heading into the national championships, was in the midst of her best season to date. Most recently, she was part of the LSU’s 1-2-3 finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the SEC Outdoor Championships, placing third with a time of 13.43. Jackson’s top time of season, 13.33, came at the Tiger Twilight Invitational where she finished second overall.

She had received an at-large bid to compete in 100 hurdles at the NCAA Championships based on her place in the NCAA’s descending order list, and was ranked 19th nationally in the event.

During the indoor season, Jackson finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships after recording a fourth-place finish at the conference meet with a season-best effort of 8.23 seconds.
