PORTSMOUTH, Va. — LSU senior forward Ronald Dupree scored in double figures in all three games and led his Norfolk Naval Shipyard team to the championship game in the annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament held last weekend showcasing top college players who are looking to play professionally next season.
Dupree, in a non-starting role, had 11 points and four assists in 24 minutes in the team’s opening 92-83 win over Bearch Barton Ford before coming back in a starting role with 15 points and six boards in 33 minutes in the Shipyard’s 97-83 decision over the Portsmouth Sports Club.
In the tournament championship game, Dupree started and played 24 minutes, hitting 9-of-12 field goals, including his only three-point attempt, scoring 20 points and grabbing five rebounds in the Shipyard’s 95-80 loss to Sales System Ltd.
For the three games, the three-time All-SEC second team selection averaged 15.3 points and 4.7 rebounds.
