BATON ROUGE — The LSU soccer team used a three-goal performance from sophomore Artie Brown to defeat the Baton Rouge Soccer Academy, 4-0, on Saturday as the Tigers won their second-consecutive Tiger Spring Classic at the LSU Soccer Complex.
“We played very well as a team today and I think that it was our cohesiveness on offense that allowed Artie to score her goals,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “We did a great job of playing tough defense and we were very unselfish on the offensive end of the field. Every one of our players did their best to find the open person and it worked for us.”
Brown, a native of Baton Rouge and a product of University Laboratory High School, notched the second hat trick of her career on Sunday. The Tigers’ speedy forward led the team in goals (8) during her freshman season and recorded a hat trick in the first collegiate game of her career. On Aug. 31, 2001, Brown scored three goals to lead the LSU soccer team to a 5-0 win over McNeese State.
