Final Day of Lady Gamecock Rained Out

COLUMBIA, S. C. — The heavy rains of Saturday left the South Carolina University Club unplayable Sunday, forcing cancellation for the second straight day of the Lady Gamecock Classic Tournament, sending the final results back to the 18-hole totals of Friday.

LSU finished in a tie for 11th at 320 with Wake Forest the winner at eight-over 296, four shots ahead of five-time defending tournament champion, Duke, at 300. Texas was third at 301 and South Carolina and Auburn tied for fourth at 302.

USC’s Kacy Thompson, Duke’s Leigh Anne Hardin and New Mexico State’s Alena Sharp tied for the individual lead at even par 72. Thompson was crowned the winner after a scorecard playoff.

LSU’s next event is at the end of March in the Bryan National Collegiate at Greensboro, N. C.
