COLUMBIA, S.C. — The LSU women’s golf team, led by a top-10 performance by newcomer Vicky Meyer in the first tournament of the spring, goes back to action Friday in the Lady Gamecock Classic at the USC University Club.
The top-ranked Duke Blue Devil golf team will be going for a sixth consecutive tournament title and its seventh in the last eight years on the 5,996-yard, par 72 layout.
Joining Duke, LSU and USC in the tournament are Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Furman, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Purdue, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Texas, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
Ten of the teams are currently ranked in the Golf Week Top 25 and five conference champions.
LSU’s Meyer finished 10th in Puerto Rico after Meyer from Brazil shot three consecutive rounds of 74 for a six-over 216.
Joining Meyer on the LSU lineup will be Brooke Shelton, Isabel Dornellas, Devon Day and Analia Lemus.
The Tigers are less than a month away from its annual tournament in Baton Rouge, hosting the LSU/Cleveland Classic at the LSU University Club, April 4-6.
