BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Lady Tigers basketball team moved up to No. 3 in both national polls this week following their victories over Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Tennessee to win the 2003 Southeastern Tournament title in Little Rock, Ark.
LSU (27-3) moved up three spots in the Associated Press poll, going from sixth to third and receiving 1,001 points. The Lady Tigers slid up to No. 3 from fifth in the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA poll with 910 points.
The Lady Tigers remained fourth in the latest Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), but now sit fourth in strength of schedule.
LSU is 11-3 against teams currently ranked in the AP top 25, including the three wins in last weekend’s SEC Tournament, and have the same record against teams ranked in the RPI’s top 25.
The Lady Tigers are secured one of the 64 spots in the tournament after receiving the SEC’s automatic bid by winning the tournament title, but will learn their seed and destination when the NCAA selection committee makes its bracket announcement on Sunday at 4 p.m. CST.
