Men’s Tennis Seeks Weekend Split Against No. 2 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The 21st-ranked men’s tennis team will face No. 2 Florida on Sunday in Gainesville, Fla.

The Tigers are coming off of a tough 4-3 loss at South Carolina on Friday and are currently 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference. LSU won the doubles point on Friday and two singles matches but could not overcome the tough 14th-ranked Gamecocks.

“This is going to be another really difficult match for us,”said LSU head coach Jeff Brown. “All our matches in the conference are tough because basically the entire SEC is ranked and it is always tough to play on the road.”

“Florida is a very good team and we will need to play well to beat them, ” said Brown.

LSU’s lineup will feature Jason Hazley at No. 1, Peter Richman at No. 2, Sebastian Rutka at 3, Bryan Fisher at 4, Paul White at 5, and Cory Ross at No. 6 in singles play. In doubles action, Hazley and Fisher will play together, Ross and Rutka, and Richman and White.

The Tigers will stay on the road after facing Florida, as LSU will take on Tennessee and Georgia next weekend.
