BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team will face the No. 1-ranked Florida Gators on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium in Baton Rouge, its second ranked opponent this weekend.
The Lady Tigers lost 5-2 to No. 24 South Carolina on Friday to fall to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in Southeastern Conference action.
“This is going to be another tough match for our team,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “Florida is a very good team, much like South Carolina was, and we will need to be focused to compete well.”
LSU will feature a singles lineup of Rocio Fantilli at No. 1, Amanda Mang at No. 2, Jessica Ferguson at 3, Marina Chiarelli at 4, Daysi Espinal at 5, and Camila Caliari at No. 6. In doubles play, Fantilli and Lauren Seaman will be paired together as well as Freguson and Mang and Caliari and Espinal.
Florida (12-1, 3-0 SEC) took care of Arkansas, 7-0, on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
LSU will have three-straight home matches following Sunday’s meeting with Florida as Tennessee, Georgia, and Ohio State will come to Baton Rouge next weekend.
