BATON ROUGE — After winning the Purple and Gold Challenge last weekend, the LSU softball team moved up one spot to No. 7 in the most recent ESPN.com/USA Softball poll released Tuesday.
LSU (16-5) joins three other Southeastern Conference schools ranked in the Top 25. Georgia comes in at No. 11, followed by South Carolina at No. 13 and Alabama at No. 20. Florida and Mississippi State are also receiving votes.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday against in-state rival Southeastern Louisiana in a single game at 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Park. The game will be broadcast live on Cox Sports Television on Baton Rouge cable channel 37.
LSU opens SEC play on Saturday with a doubleheader against Tennessee beginning at 11 a.m. at Tiger Park. The three-game series concludes with a single game on Sunday at 11 a.m.
