BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team hopes to keep the momentum going in the right direction Wednesday night as the Tigers host the Auburn Tigers in a 7 p.m. game at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

LSU has won three of its last five games and is coming off an impressive 75-56 victory over Arkansas on Saturday night at the Assembly Center. LSU, 15-9, 4-8 in the league, got 25 points and 13 rebounds from Ronald Dupree and 10 points and five assists from Torris Bright as for the second straight home game, the Tigers were able to get a big first-half advantage. Against Vanderbilt the Tigers had a 27-0 first half run and LSU opened the Arkansas game up 24-2.
Auburn is 18-7 and 7-5 in the West, battling Mississippi State for the top spot in the Western Division. Auburn defeated LSU, 56-54, two weeks ago in Auburn on a last-second three-pointer by Nathan Watson.
Torris Bright will add another milestone to his illustrious playing career in this evening’s game after the first two minutes of the contest have passed as he will become just the second player in LSU history, joining Howard Carter, to play 4,000 career minutes.
Joining Bright in the starting lineup that is now 3-2 over the last five games will be guards Xavier Whipple and Collis Temple III and forwards Jaime Lloreda and Dupree. Dupree continues to be all over the Southeastern Conference stats leaders standing sixth in scoring (16.0), 4th in field goal percentage (career best 53 percent), 3rd in rebounds (8.1) and his five double-doubles in SEC games leads the league.
The Tigers go on the road for their next two games, Saturday at Tennessee (6 p.m. CST, Fox Sports Net) and at Ole Miss one week from tonight. The Tigers close out the regular season on Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center against Alabama. It will be senior night as the six seniors – Brad Bridgewater, Torris Bright, Thomas Davis, Ronald Dupree, Brian Green and Collis Temple III – will play their final regular season home games in the building. There will be a brief ceremony prior to that game, honoring the seniors.
