BATON ROUGE — For the third consecutive week the LSU women’s track team ranks first and the men rank third in the Trackwire 25 power rankings, released Tuesday.
The women’s No. 1 ranking marks their fifth week at the top this yearn as they also held the top spot during the first two weeks of the season. LSU holds the No. 1 position with 61 points this week, while Stanford moved into the No. 2 spot (47), North Carolina sits in third (43), Florida is in fourth (39) and South Carolina and Texas are tied for fifth (38).
The SEC once again dominates the men’s top-five as Arkansas tops the standings for the third straight week with 55 points and South Carolina (47), LSU (43), Mississippi State (30) and Florida (28) follow.
LSU also has two athletes leading the nation in weekly Dandy Dozen rankings, a power ranking of the top 12 athletes and relay teams in each NCAA event.
Sprinter Muna Lee ranks first in both the 60 and 200-meter dashes, while junior Nicole Toney tops the field in the triple jump.
The LSU track and field team will return to action this weekend, March 1-2, when it travels to Gainesville, Fla., for the SEC Indoor Championships.
