BATON ROUGE — LSU’s fourth-ranked Lady Tigers take a break from the grueling Southeastern Conference schedule on Saturday at 2 p.m., but will face one of the nation’s top 20 teams when No. 20 UC-Santa Barbara visits the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
LSU (21-1, 9-1 SEC) is riding a six-game winning streak and is coming off an 85-43 victory over Alabama on Thursday night.
UCSB (18-3, 10-1 Big West) has won seven straight games, including a victory at Illinois on Thursday night. The Gauchos currently lead the Big West and have only dropped one conference game over the past two seasons.
Freshman Seimone Augustus leads LSU. The Baton Rouge native scored a game-high 16 points in just 17 minutes against Alabama and is averaging 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per outing. Senior Aiysha Smith is next with 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Junior Lindsay Taylor leads UCSB. The 6-8 center is averaging 14.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
This is just the second meeting between the two schools. LSU won the other meeting 77-73 in overtime on March 21, 1996 in the Women’s NIT.
This will be the final non-conference game of the regular season for the Lady Tigers. LSU wraps up the season with four SEC games, including traveling to Oxford, Miss., on Thursday to face Ole Miss at 7 p.m. CST.
