BATON ROUGE — The 10th-ranked LSU gymnastics team travels to Tuscaloosa Friday for a classic SEC match up with No. 3 Alabama. The meet will be held at the UA’s Coleman Coliseum, with action set to begin at 7 p.m.

The Tigers, 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the SEC, look to rebound after suffering their second loss of the season at the hands of No. 7 Florida a week ago.

Despite the loss, LSU posted its second highest team score of the year, 196.500, behind season-high marks of 49.050 on the beam and 49.475 on the floor.

Individually, freshman April Burkholder continued her winning ways, taking home meet titles on both the vault and floor against the Gators. Her meet winning marks of 9.975 on the vault and 9.950 on the floor both marked career-high scores.

Alabama enters the meet with an overall record of 6-5 and an even 1-1 slate in conference action. The Crimson Tide is ranked third this week after holding the nation’s top spot in standings a week ago. Alabama has been paced by a trio of all-arounders as Jeana Rice, Kristin Sterner and Shannon Hrozek are currently ranked second, 13th and 25th, respectively, in the all-around.

Following LSU’s meet with Alabama, the Tigers will conclude their two-meet road swing at the Nebraska-hosted Masters Classic Sunday, Feb. 23.
