BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s tennis team broke into the top-25 for the first time during the 2003 dual-match season on Wednesday as the Tigers jumped three spots in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings to currently own the No. 23 position.

LSU owns a perfect 5-0 record on the season and has only allowed two points in its first five contests. The Tigers have already recorded three shutout victories this season and have outscored their opponents by a total of 32-2.

The Southeastern Conference was well represented in Wednesday’s Omni Hotels Collegiate Rankings as all 12 of the league’s teams earned rankings amongst the nation’s top 30.

Ole Miss led the way with the No. 5 ranking, while Florida comes in as the sixth-ranked team in the country. Four more SEC squads came in among the nation’s top-20 teams on Wednesday as Kentucky (No. 11), Auburn (No. 13), Alabama (No. 14) and South Carolina (No. 17) each moved up in the weekly poll.

LSU, the 23rd-ranked team in the country, is the seventh SEC team in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Rankings and is followed by Tennessee at No. 25 Arkansas at No. 26, Vanderbilt at No. 28, Mississippi State at No. 29 and the 30th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

The LSU men’s tennis team will next be in action on Saturday, Feb. 15, as the Tigers head to College Station, Texas, to face off with the 19th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies at 1:30 p.m.
