Lady Tigers Leapfrog Stanford for Fifth in National Polls

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s women’s basketball team, coming off a pair of Southeastern Conference victories last week, moved up one spot in each of the national poll and are now No. 5 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches polls.

The Lady Tigers (17-1, 5-1 SEC), who defeated Florida 94-54 in Gainesville last Thursday and knocked off No. 17 Vanderbilt 70-59 at home on Sunday, also moved up to eighth with a .6605 rating in the latest Rating Percentage Index (RPI).

The top four in both polls remained the same with Duke, UConn, Kansas State and Tennessee holding at one through four. Tennessee owns the top spot in the RPI, which is a system, complied by a computer program based on record, opponents record and strength of schedule.

LSU will host No. 18 Georgia in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
