Gymnastics Continues Road Swing Against Auburn

BATON ROUGE — The 13th-ranked LSU gymnastics team continues its season Friday with a dual meet against No. 15 Auburn. The SEC match-up will be take place at Auburn’s Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum and will begin at 7 p.m.

The meet will be televised by Fox Sports Net on a tape delay basis with broadcast dates set for Saturday, Feb. 1, at 3 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 2, at 3 a.m.

LSU is a perfect 5-0 on the season and coming off wins over Kentucky and Centenary. In that meet the Lady Tigers scored a season-high 195.825 to UK’s 194.125 and Centenary’s 189.400. LSU won the event titles on everything but the vault, posting season-high marks of 49.275 on the floor, 49.200 on the bars and 48.800 on the beam.

Individually, freshman April Burkholder had a break through meet for the Lady Tigers, winning the all-around (39.325), floor (9.925) and beam (9.850) after recording career-high marks on each of those events.

Auburn enters the meet with a 4-2 record and after defeating Illinois-Chicago 195.775-195.075, Sunday. The Tigers have been paced by sophomore all-arounder Kayce Stein who won the all-around in Auburn’s last outing with a score of 39.400.

Following the Auburn meet, LSU returns to Baton Rouge to open its home schedule, Jan. 31, against eighth-ranked Denver.
