No. 6 Lady Tigers Look to Rebound at Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — LSU’s sixth-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team looks to get back on track when they visit Florida on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST at the O’Connell Center.

LSU (15-1, 3-1 SEC) is coming off an 82-72 loss at Arkansas on Sunday that halted the longest winning streak in school history.

Florida (8-8, 0-4 SEC) is coming off a loss to Tennessee. The Gators have dropped four straight games enter Thursday’s contest.

The Lady Tigers will be without the services on starting center DeTrina White. The senior fro Lafayette, La., underwent surgery to place a screw into her right foot to repair a fractured bone. Senior Ke-Ke Tardy will likely replace White in the line.

Freshman Seimone Augustus leads the team into the game. She is averaging 14.6 points per game, including 16.8 in SEC games. Junior Doneeka Hodges has been the hottest Lady Tiger, averaging 25 points in her last two games and 14.8 points in the SEC.

Freshman Bernice Mosby leads Florida, averaging 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The Gators are also expecting center Vanessa Hayden to return to the floor for the first time in seven games. Hayden had broken a bone in her leg in the eighth game of the season.

This will be the 23rd meeting between the two schools. LSU leads the series 14-8 and have won four of the last five meetings. The Lady Tigers also hold a 6-4 series lead in games played in Gainesville.

Following Thursday’s game, LSU returns home for the first of a two-game home stand against Vanderbilt on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Maravich Assembly Center.
