BATON ROUGE — LSU hopes to regain what they lost at home on Saturday when the Tigers travel to Fayetteville Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. Southeastern Conference game against the University of Arkansas at Bud Walton Arena.
There is no television for the contest, but the radio broadcast of the game will be available in Louisiana on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.
The Tigers (12-3, 1-2) are coming off a 67-57 loss at home to Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon, giving LSU its first home loss of the season after 11 wins. The Tigers will attempt to win for the second straight year at Arkansas and for the third time in the last four years.
The Razorbacks are 5-9 on the year, 0-3 in the league and on a five-game losing skid.
“Arkansas is needing a win and so are we after giving us a home win to Ole Miss,” said LSU coach John Brady. “We kind of got out-toughed against Ole Miss. Now we’ve got to go on the road, to a tough place to play, where the crowd support is there no matter what. Our first road trip wasn’t too good against Georgia. I just hope our team knows what they need to do.”
The Tigers are expected to go with their normal three-guard, two-forward lineup with Torris Bright (9.5 ppg, 5.73 apg), Collis Temple III (9.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg) and Antonio Hudson (8.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg) at guards, and Ronald Dupree (15.4 ppg, 7.9 rpg) and Jaime Lloreda (13.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg) at forwards.
Arkansas has been led by freshman Kendrick Davis, averaging 12.4 points per game. He had 15 points in the Saturday loss at home against Georgia. Dionisio Gomez only had six points against Georgia, but had 17 rebounds, 12 offensive.
“Our team is struggling right now,” said first-year Arkansas head coach Stan Heath. “But we’re looking forward to the second half (of the season). Different guys are starting to get a feel for the SEC. LSU is a team that has a lot of talent, a team that can really force the tempo by pressing you. We really have to keep our team’s spirit up. We really have to do some motivational things. We’ re sick, but we’re not dead.”
Following the game in Fayetteville, the Tigers will travel to Starkville for a Saturday 2 p.m. (JP Sports) rematch with Mississippi State before returning to the Assembly Center for an 8 p.m. Tuesday ESPN game with nationally ranked Florida.
