FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — LSU’s second-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team faces a tough test on Sunday when they travel to Bud Walton Arena to face No. 10 Arkansas at 4 p.m. CST. The game will be telecast to a national audience on ESPN.
The Lady Tigers (15-0, 3-0 SEC), off to the best start in the program’s history, are coming off a 82-39 victory over Kentucky at home on Thursday night and sit atop of the Southeastern Conference standings with the perfect 3-0 mark. Arkansas (15-2, 2-0 SEC) is coming off a win at Florida on Thursday and is also perfect in the conference with a 2-0 record.
Freshman Seimone Augustus leads LSU. The 6-1 Baton Rouge native is averaging 14.8 points per game and 18.3 points per contest in the SEC. Senior Aiysha Smith follows Augustus, averaging 11.1 points per outing.
Senior guard India Lewis leads the Lady Razorbacks. She is averaging 15.6 points per game, while junior Shameka Christon is right behind her with 15.0 points per game and a team-high 6.4 rebounds a contest.
This will be the 20th meeting between the two conference rivals. LSU leads the series 11-8 and has won five of the last six meetings. Arkansas holds a slight 5-4 series lead in games played in Fayetteville. The teams split the series last season with each team winning at home.
Following the game, LSU returns to the road to visit Florida on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST in Gainesville.
