Saban: ‘Baton Rouge is Our Home’

BATON ROUGE — LSU football coach Nick Saban responded Wednesday to repeated rumors that have associated him with NFL head coaching positions.

“Time and time again I have said that I am committed to LSU and to building a program here. I am very happy here and so is my family. Baton Rouge is our home. In the past I have not responded to rumors or innuendo about me leaving LSU for the NFL, but it comes up at this time every year during recruiting.

“So it’s important to me that it’s clear to everyone that I am as committed to LSU as the first day I stepped on campus, and I’m more excited about LSU’s future now than I’ve ever been. The stability in our football program is excellent and the commitment that our staff has made will take the program to a level that this University and its alumni will be proud of.”

In three years at LSU, Saban has guided the Tigers to a 26-12 overall record and to three straight bowl games, including its first back-to-back New Year’s Day games since the 1960s. Saban also led the Tigers to the 2001 Southeastern Conference title, LSU’s first outright league title since 1986.
