BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Rachel Cohen was officially named to the 2002 Women’s Soccer All-America Team on Wednesday as the 2003 Jewish Sports Review announced its annual collegiate award winners.
“It’s a great honor that Rachel was recognized for a second-straight year with this award and I feel that we have made some huge strides as a team and as a program,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “Every individual award that we receive is good, but they can also be attributed to the success that we’ve had as a team. Everyone on our team contributes. Not just one person.”
Cohen, a native of Lafayette, La., earned her second consecutive All-America honors on Wednesday after leading LSU to an impressive 12-5-3 overall record during the 2002 campaign. The Tigers’ midfielder finished the year with nine total points, seven assists and one goal.
